see-zeen is excited to announce the winners of our first ever Portrait Award. The first place winner takes home US$500 cash prize.
For the first time since our launch almost 3 years ago we held a contest. We are delighted that Frank W Ockenfels accepted our invitation to be our guest judge. The range of work was fascinating, just as we’d hoped. From traditional to diverse approaches, each photographer had their own unique voice.
The vast scope of entries and styles reinforces the point made in our feature article- that the definition of portraiture has extended beyond its historical confines.
It is also the first time we charged a small submission fee to cover admin costs. At this point we want to stress that see-zeen is entirely independent, free of sponsors or advertisements and driven by our passion for photography, a small team managing a large workload and covering numerous expenses. We want to thank all of the submitters for supporting us by accepting our small submission fee. We want to continue presenting the work of emergingphotographers around the globe. Enjoy the winning entries and stay tuned for future award opportunities. Seehere.
In our feature A Visual Dialogue we again connect two strangers in different parts of the world. In this issue a Peruvian photographer based in Spain meets an American. We paired them as we felt they would intellectually challenge each other.
In our regular section of the 10 we have curated inspiring projects from photographers in Brazil, Canada, China, Estonia, Mexico, Norway, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine and USA.
