Why do you take pictures?
I have always used photography as a tool of introspection to investigate the relationship with my inner being and what surrounds me, seeking a universal connection. Expressing myself through images is a necessity and above all I also try to make photography dialogue with other media such as performance art, video art and installation.
Where do you get your inspiration?
I take inspiration mainly from my life because I consider my art a reflection of my existence. Living near nature, the connection with it has always been inherent in me and I draw a lot of food for thought from it. I am also influenced by mythological stories, science fiction, theatre, music, poems, my favorite films such as Aronofsky's The Fountain and philosophical essays that delve into the theories of existentialism, esoteric philosophies, oriental philosophies.
Who are your influences?
I love the work of artists such as Sophie Calle, Marina Abramovic, Marilyn Arsem, Bill Viola, Duane Michals, Claudio Parmiggiani and so many contemporary artists especially those who use an approach that combines different media.
What determines the subject matter you choose?
My projects always start from a topic linked to my experience that I feel the need to explore further. Many of my photographs are self-portraits and I see performative action as a way to experience the subject matter more deeply. As the project is built, the choice of images that are part of it occurs almost unconsciously.
What impact would you like your art to have?
With my art I want to give the viewers access to a dimension that goes beyond the visible, making them reflect and question themselves.
What artwork do you never get bored with?
I don't get bored easily with the more conceptual art that invites us to look beyond the surface of the visible, that doesn't show reality as we see with our eyes and that arouses a reaction in us.
Is there anything you want to add?
Thank you
